Beijing, China -- Well-known Chinese linguist, Sanskrit scholar and literary translator Ji Xianlin was honored with the Translation Lifetime Achievement Award from the Translators Association of China on September 26.

 

Ji Xianlin has received widespread recognition in China and the world for his academic achievements. Born at the start of the last century, he witnessed all the revolutionary events in China's recent history.

 

The professor has contributed significantly to research on ancient indigenous Indian languages, early Buddhist languages and Sanskrit literature. He has translated a number of literary works written in these languages into Chinese, as well as a number of foreign essays.
