Upaya Zen Center
Santa Fe, USA -- Upaya Zen Center is located at Santa Fe, New Mexico in USA. From August 25-27, it will install an unusual retreat which offers the practice of calligraphy on a large scale, working with big brushes, paper and canvas. The retreat takes place in the temple as well as out-of-doors to accommodate the big scale of the calligraphy and painting.
In the tradition of Asian calligraphy, the retreat engages the creative process by reproducing ideograms and paintings from ancient Chinese masterpieces but on a large scale. The retreat interprets these works and explores creativity and how it works in our life as a source of insight and joy. The retreat is for beginners and seasoned artists. The instructor is Kazuaki Tanahashi is a master calligrapher, Dogen scholar, and social activist. [Picture titles are added by Wang Xinyu]
