Welcome to the Bhavana Society Forest Monastery and Meditation Center. Please take a moment to see the grounds. Above you can see the lily pond and the meditation hall.

Our main office building. During retreats you may have an interview here with your meditation teacher.

This is the front door of the main building. The main building complex includes the kitchen, dining hall, library, and meditation hall, as well as the original women's dorm.

The first thing you will see inside the main building is the dining hall. This hall also serves as a place for practicing yoga in the afternoons. In the back corner of the room is a bookstand with free distribution books.
The meditation hall was built in 1995 with the generous support of donors from around the world.

A green house attached to the meditation hall provides a home for our small Bodhi tree (foreground) as well as a space for walking meditation.

This is our outdoor meditation area. Listen to the birds and the bugs while you count your breath.

Twenty kutis, or meditation cabins, are spread throughout the property. Without plumbing or electricity, they provide a refuge from the complications of modern life.

Almost fifty acres of land provide a small network of trails for walking in the shade of the woods.

Tucked outside the main building complex, the lily pond with Buddha statue is a quiet place for reflection.

Visakha House can house eight women during retreats. The ground level is handicapped accessible.

Jivaka House is used for men during retreats and short term stays.

Snow falls throughout the winter. Cabins are heated with wood stoves or propane.
