Nanjing, China -- At 9 AM, 13th May, 2006, Ven. Chuanyi Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition was held in Jiangsu Province Art Gallery. Ven. Chuanyi is the abbot of Nearly one hundred distinguished guests participated the opening ceremony, including Zhukang Tudengkuzhu Rinpoche, president of Tibetan Association of the Buddhist Association of China, vice-president of the Buddhist Association of China; Mr. Qin Mengxiao, chief-editor of Hong Kong Buddhism; Ven. Puzheng, vice-director of International Department of the Buddhist Association of China; Mr. An Husheng, General Director of Chinese Buddhism Online.

Zhukang Tudengkuzhu Rinpoche, president of Tibetan Association of the Buddhist Association of China, vice-president of the Buddhist Association of China, delivered a speech, after looking back the historical effect of Nanjing Vairocana Buddha Monastery in Han-Tibetan culture exchange, particularly Buddhist culture exchange, he praise the historical significance of Nanjing Vairocana Buddha Monastery. He appreciated Ven. Chuanyi's effort and achievements in Buddhist culture and wished this exhibition could be successful. Finally, he wishes every guest be healthy and have a good luck.

Mr. Yinshi, secretary of China Artists Association of Jiangsu Province gave a friendly speech. He introduced the attainments and style in art which achieved by Ven. Chuanyi, and he stressed that as a Buddhist, Ven. Chuanyi could steadily focus on his Buddhist Practice via painting and calligraphy. Neither fortune nor fame existed in his mind, that is extremely admirable in this society which is lack of serenity and selfless devotion.

Distinguished Guests including Zhukang Tudengkuzhu Rinpoche, Ven. Puzheng cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony.

 

After the ceremony, Zhukang Tudengkuzhu Rinpoche presented Shakyamuni Buddha image of Thangka to Ven. Chuanyi, then the Thangka was exhibited in Jiangsu Province Art Gallery, and the guests experienced the unique enchantment of Tibetan culture.

Zhukang Tudengkuzhu Rinpoche who was accompanied by Xu Huiling, the vice-mayor of Nanjing City enjoyed the part of painting and calligraphy works by Ven. Chuanyi.  [Translator: Wang Xinyu]
