Ha Noi -- Viet Nam State President Nguyen Minh Triet praised the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha for actively contributing to the policy of "great solidarity for the whole nation".

The president met yesterday with a high-ranking delegation of the Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha, led by the Sangha's Deputy Chairman, Most Venerable Thich Thanh Tu.

Triet wished the Sangha to continue its tradition of solidarity by implementing its guideline of "Faith -- Nation and Socialism" and encouraging followers to be participants in the country's renewal movement.

The president said he hopes that the Sangha will help Buddhists further understand State policies.
