Xiamen, China -- On the morning of October 21, 2006, Buddhists from the two sides of the Taiwan Straits congregated at South Potalaka Monastery (Xiamen, Fujian Province) to attend the Opening Ceremony of Water & Land Dharma Service for Adversity Elimination & Happiness Growth both sides of the Taiwan Straits.
At AM 9:15, the Opening Ceremony started. Ven. Shenghui, vice-chairman of Buddhist Association of China, High Buddhist Priest of South Potalaka Monastery; Ven. Zewu, abbot of South Potalaka Monastery, vice-chairman of Xiamen Municipal Buddhist Association and other abbots and Venerable Buddhists as well as political leaders who charge with religious affairs made appearance at the grand ceremony.
The two major purposes of this Water & Land Dharma Service are: Deceased Relief and the blessing of peace between both sides of the Taiwan Straits. [Translator: Wang Xinyu News in Chinese]
