Beijing, China¡ª At 3:50 pm. May 21, 2006, the Buddhist Association of China held Reminiscence Dharma-assembly of Venerable Zhao Puchu Passed Away for Six Years in Guangji Monastery.
The tender drizzle in the morning clarified the air in Beijing. Guangji Monastery was tidy and sublime. A photograph of the deceased Venerable Zhao Puchu was placed before the Buddha statue of the Great Hero¡¯s Jeweled Hall in Guangji Monastery. Ven. Master Shenghui, vice-president of the Buddhist Association of China led the personnel of the BAC, monastics of Guangji Monastery, and hundreds of lay along with Chen Bangzhi, wife of Venerable Zhao Puchu participated in this Dharma-assembly to memorize Venerable Zhao Puchu, the deceased former chairman of the BAC.
Ven. Master Shenghui presided over the Dharma-assembly. He asked monastics to bow to the photograph of the deceased Venerable Zhao Puchu for three times in a clasped hand. In the following address, Ven. Master Shenghui said: ¡°Today, we are here, joining for a common purpose that we are deeply reminisce Venerable Zhao Puchu. All Buddhist disciples miss him deeply. For six years, we always remember his contribution to Buddhism, to the whole country and to the Chinese Nation, always remembering his earnestly and tirelessly instruction to us and eager hope for our development. For six years, we have been carrying on and developing his thoughts and spirit together, cultivating ourselves to the best of our strength. We held up the glorious flag of ¡°Love our country as well as love Buddhism; Union to development¡±, and attained great achievement of opening up a new prospect in Buddhism in China.
