The UN Vesak Day International Buddhist Conference

On 17th  May, 2005, Ye Xiaowen, chairman of the Religious Culture Communication Association of China, and Ven. Yicheng, chairman of the Buddhist Association of China, led a delegation to the UN's Vesak Day International Buddhist Conference in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Chinese delegation announced the first World Buddhist Forum's plans to begin on the Chinese mainland. It also extended cordial invitations to all conference attendees, which the attendees responded to warmly. Representatives from 41 countries signed a memo supporting China's hosting of the 2006 World Buddhist Forum.  [Translator: Wang Xinyu]
